Our Promise. Their Future.
The Chancellor’s Challenge for Student Support —
A Campus Matching Gift Program
Ensuring that every young person in California has equal access to the excellence of a Berkeley education — access that is based on the ability to achieve not on the ability to pay — requires new investments in Berkeley’s endowment to support undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships.
Chancellor Robert Birgeneau has designed a new matching gift program to encourage faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, and student donations to Berkeley’s endowment. The Chancellor’s Challenge for Student Support will match gifts made by members of the campus community to any need-based scholarship or graduate fellowship fund.
Chancellor Birgeneau encourages you to join in the effort to ensure that Berkeley’s promise of excellence and opportunity is open to all high-achieving students regardless of their financial means. Our success requires new and renewed partnerships between the state of California and people who care about the future potential of our outstanding young people.
